Every day looks the same. Wake up to hungry children, feed children, clean up after children, binge-watch Netflix during their naptime, play with children, bathe children, and fall into bed exhausted. . . only to do it again the next day. You feel your life has no purpose except caring for tiny humans. Mama, it doesn't have to be this way. You can embrace purposeful living even in the midst of motherhood.

Instead, imagine in the busy you are pointing out to your children the wonder of God's creation. You intentionally take the time to read Bible stories and share the love of Jesus. You model what it means to follow Jesus and have a relationship with Him. Imagine you have the time to serve others in their time of need.

What is Purposeful Living?

Purposeful living is the intentional act of living a life with purpose. When you live purposefully, you are mindful of the decisions you make and the actions you take in order to create a life that aligns with your deepest values and beliefs. Many moms feel lost in the day-to-day, unsure of what they should be doing in life.

If you feel this way, don't worry! You are not alone. The good news is that there is hope! You can choose to make changes and live according to your values and priorities. In fact, there are many benefits of living with purpose. Today, we will explore 6 top reasons to embrace purposeful living.

Living Purposefully

So, how do you live a purposeful life? Why is living purposefully important? We were created to live for a purpose. Our main purpose is to glorify God, but that will look different for each one of us. As moms, we need to glorify God in how we raise our children, what we put our focus on, how we spend our time, as well as how we use our gifts and talents.

Live a purposeful life with God

The main reason to live purposefully is that we are here to bring glory to God. In fact, we aren't here to fulfill our purposes, but to fulfill His. Let's look at some Bible verses about living with purpose before we go any further.

Walking in your purpose Scripture

I want to share with you some Bible verses about purposeful living. It's so easy to let life go by and just go with the flow. We dutifully follow those around us, but do you even know where they're headed? We often need to go against the flow in order to live intentionally the life God has for us.

  • Seek first God's kingdom.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33ESV

  • You are God's workmanship.

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10

  • The Lord will fulfill His purpose.

"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands." Psalm 138:8

  • My purpose is to testify the gospel of Christ.

"But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God." Acts 20:24

  • Purpose to love God and love people.

"'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31

These Bible verses about purposeful living are just a few of my favorites, but there are many more. These verses each remind us that our purpose is to put God and His ways first.

Simple Purposeful Living

Basically, in order to live your life with purpose, you will want to let go of the things that aren't in line with your priorities in life. You will want to minimize activities and things that aren't bringing you toward your purpose. Definitely take the time to write out your very top priorities in life if you haven't already done so.
